On average, how much do mechanics charge to fix a heating system in a car. I think my heater works, its just that the wires are crossed or something, sending the heat to the wrong vents.

It would depend entirely on how much time it took them to find and fix the problem, and the cost of parts if any.

If you have heat going to the wrong places, I would assume to the defrost vents because that is the default place, you have a vacuum line off or leaking.

why would the wires get crossed? did somebody "FIX" something? A lot of vent controls are activated by cables. If you've owned this car for any amount of time you should know what has changed to make this happen. If you just bought it you might have turned the wrong knob or dial or switch. Owners Manual???

That all depends on what is wrong. YOu may want to ask for an estimate.
