Yes for sure...

I remember a statement from the spiderman series 'Great power brings in great responsibilities'. We want more freedom, more power but we don't wanna take over the responsibilities. We no more care about anything else but ourselves.

We brought our selfishness out in the name of freedom. We want freedom of speech without realizing that our speech could offend others, we want freedom from our parents without realizing that they were the ones who took so many pains to raise us, we even want liberal sex without realizing it's counter effects... No wonder a few people have started developing a kind of feeling that the olden days were better as everyone was free and still he/she held on to his/her responsibilities.

We are racing ahead in technology, but our ethics have regressed.

I must appreciate you to bring such an important fact of the society into light. Thanks.

A person who experienced slavery only will know the true value of freedom. A community that has no vision of the freedom is always the problem in any society. Mostly we wrongly manipulate it in such a way that we don't consider our co-beings as equal partners. Racism, religion, socioeconomic status etc. are the reasons for discrimination.

Many times I felt that freedom is dangerous in the hands of some people because they misuse it. In other words, their minds are not ripe enough to honour its values. These immature members of our society is the threat to rest of us. That means, some are to be kept under control still. White hair, wrinkled skin and the years they passed did not make any change in their minds. Moreover, these misguided elders mutilate out new generation as well.

Depends of what you exactly mean here. Yes in some cases. For example, this is one aspect:
Freedom of speech is very problematic. I don't see the right solution for this problem. Media can destroy you these days, and there is always a problem with how to restrain that. They became very powerful. Manipulation of freedom is when you say (or write) anything you want without consequences. Don't get me wrong, I am not against journalists and I don't support hunting them, but morality doesn't mean anything these days. To public something no matter about morality - nobody see problem in that.

A lot of people will fight and die for 'freedom' but will just give it away at the drop of a hat. When people do have 'freedom' they don't know what to do with it.

'Freedom' comes with responsibilities, including the responsibility to educate oneself and to respect others' opinions. This often gets ignored.

Who are the 'we' that you are talking about. Sure advertisers, politicians and religious nuts are trying to manipulate us all the time and this is a dangerous trend but its up to the individual to stand up for his or her own beliefs.

We still have quite a lot of freedom but many lack the courage to take advantage of it.

With regard to freedom, the manipulation increases in direct proportion to the increase in our awareness of it. Those responsible for the soapy advertisement of mass production, for example, do not hesitate to employ techniques learned from behavioral psychology.

Star question!!

Yes indeed.... we are looking for freedom without corresponding responsibility..... we have in fact begun to define freedom as escape from responsibility.... which is why it is causing various issues. Before blaming the next generation, we must first see how much of parenting responsibility we have assumed.

Freedom given to one person shdnt be such that it snatches someother person's freedom. Also freedom shdnt be such that a person can do bad things that harm that person & affect other persons too (like,a girl has freedom to flirt with any guy & dump him too.but if it crosses limit & he gets frustated & kills her then its not only that girl who is affected but also her near & dear ones gets affected).Inshort, Freedom shdnot be misused. This is wat is done now-a-days.& this is due to lack of basic morals.Freedom if used in correct way gives best results but if it is MISUSED then it wud be very dangerous & many times this mistake cant be corrected once commited.

For sure. Kids can call children's aid on their parents. Children have more rights than their parents. As they say, Spare the Rod, Spoil the child. Kids now run the world.
