It's not the fact that their successful or the way they wear their clothes. It's based on a person's beliefs and if they're seen as selling themselves out (denying some part of themself to blend in). That is why some black people are called uncle toms and others aren't. I don't think Colin Powell is an uncle tom. He's actually one of the few people I look up to and has my complete respect.

People just love to stereotype others be it black or other and I'm so tired of hearing this crap about blacks wearing their pants hanging down when there's just as many different others that i see wearing their pants hanging down to. So please give it a rest already. This is just a prime example of people stereotyping others it doesn't matter if you're successful or not. Jealousy and haters are every where but they would rather hate on others instead of getting up and making a positive step in their own lives.

who decides who is really black? i'm sure if you asked colin powell or condi rizzice they would say they are black. you might have more contact with people who's pants are sagging and havent finished high school. people will make up any reason to hate those in power, i guess calling them an uncle tom is one of those ways.

Self hatred is not limited to some blacks who disrespect other blacks. Whites do it, Asians do it. Human nature. We tend to have ideas of what our "race" should be like and when some succeed or do something we perceive as odd or against our perception of ourselves, we tend to become self hating. Another example, a white rapper is seen by many whites as being, and please forgive the use of this foul word, a "Wigger". That is just as insulting, just as self defeating.
People of all races need to stop believing their own stereotyping and start accepting that the world is now changing, Blacks can be successful business people, Whites can be rappers, Asians can be basketball players, this is what we should strive for, not keep putting ourselves down or blaming others.

Because people like Clarence Thomas are not the non-thinking 'useful idiots' who would vote for the Democrats.
