Since Exxon Mobile had profits of $3 billion, would it work if a lot of us average citizens got an oil company together and made no profit, but paid a lot less for the fuel? It could be like a club. Would this work and how could it be done.

Nice idea.

However, how about an educational and health care cooperative?

Comparisons of prices for today vs. 1982-1984 years ago:

Gasoline: up 190.3%
All Items: Up 201.5%
Medical care: up 340.1%
Educational Books/Supplies: up 398.5%
Hospitals and related services: up 477.7%

According to this site, gas has actually risen less than all these other things. Perhaps the increased cost of education makes us ignorant to this...

Seems education and health care are far bigger problems from a cost perspective. Funny how in the case of health care, the privatization of it and the rise of managed health care organizations occurred between 84 and today.....

shhh.. dont say that outloud! you might get sniped on your way to work . actually that sounds like a good idea.the problem might be that the oil companys own most of the infrastructure and might not like the idea of leaseing their equipment to a co-op. they might actually have laws against such ideas buried somewhere. hey! why is there a red dot on my chest......................................ugh!
