Christopher Reeve played him in the 1st 3 movies.

Christopher Reeve played him in the first 4 Superman movies, then Brandon Routh played him in Superman Returns.
George Reeve played Superman in the 50's American TV series, and Dean Cain played him in the 90's TV series.
There is a film about George Reeve, where he is played by Ben Affleck.

The early George Reeves superman movie has been re released on the new edition of Superman The movie.
Incedently Ben Afflecks latest movie is about the life (or should I say death of George Reeves (Hollywoodland) and for a Ben affleck film it's actually quite good! :

BTW Kirk Alyn did not play superman in a movie only the serials.
He wanted too much money although he was in Superman the movie playing the young Lois Lanes father on the train when the young superman outruns it!

George Reeves took over in the 50's TV series
Chris Reeve starred in the 1977 film, and its 3 sequels
John Newton/Gerard Christopher starred in Superboy from 88-92
Dean Cain played him on Lois and Clark 93-97
Tom Welling plays Clark in Smallville 2001-present

It may be Christopher Reeve, but the classic tv show was played by George Reeve,
Not sure if they are related, but was told they both died young, and it was said that Superman was cursed in that sense

For heavens sake.....Where did you get that info from chris reeve was the first superman. You'd better ask a veteran film goer. The first one was shown back in the 1950's and was in black and white but i cant remember his name.
