From what I understand, for some of them the whole "gangsta" thing is kind of an act in itself.
Of course there are exceptions, but you know ... that whole genre of music has its own image to live up to.
That being said, some rappers (Ice Cube, Will Smith, Mos Def) turned out to be pretty good actors. Some, like Ice T, not so much.
