Whenever I raise my left arm, whether in standing position or lying down, it gets numb as if not enough blood circulates my arm starting from my fingers all the way down. The longer I keep it raised, the lower the numbness goes to my elbow.. down to my shoulder.. but I really haven't kept it up too long for the numbness to reach my shoulder because by the time it goes down, id be so afraid already. What's causing this? It's been like this for a year now and I realized this because it was before Valentines when I first felt this and its almost Valentines again! Help! Thanks!

you don't give any information like age or health, but you could be compressing an artery at the shoulder, or you could have Reynaud's Syndrome. Do your fingers turn white and then get tingly when you lower your arm? Ask your doctor.

Well you should have gone to see a doctor a long time ago. Because sounds besides having circulation problems you could have othere problems that can be bad for you. So amke an appointment now and see what happening before it gets worse.

You don’t have to get worried about it. It could be because there is not enough blood circulation due to perhaps disuse atrophy or perhaps due to the fact that part of your body was at rest for two or three hours. You can find good home remedies for this. I did find some at http://ailments.in/peripheralneuropathy.html

My husband has the same problem. If he does anything with his arms raised, like painting, drywall, etc. they go numb. He mentioned this to our doctor a few years ago and the doctor just said, "Hmm." I figured if the dr. wasn't worried about it then we wouldn't worry about it either.

Most likely, the verdict it that the muscles in your neck, and/or shoulder are very tight, thus pinching nerves that run down through your arms. Consider stretching as often as possible. Also, Chiropractic care, and/or massage therapy can generally cure these symptoms.

Because there's a ceiling fan above you and your hand is getting wacked by the blades.
