It is, but the "runners up" are interesting!

"The United States remains at number one according to the latest data from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), followed by Mexico, Britain, the Slovak Republic, Greece and then Australia in terms of adult obesity."

According to 2005 estimates by the World Health Organization, the fattest nation in the world (based on the percentage of citizens with a Body Mass Index greater than or equal to 30) is the tiny island nation of Nauru. The south pacific island is far and away the fattest country, with 78.8% of females considered obese along with 83.2% of males. I guess the next question is whether BMI accurately reflects what should be considered a healthy weight for different body types throughout the world.

FYI, the United States is ranked 7th overall for males (just ahead of Argentina) and 13th for females (behind Egypt and just ahead of Jamaica) according to these statistics, but is admittedly the highest "western" nation on the list.

Some people often mistake france as the fattest country. this is not true. although they do eat A LOT of fried and even regular food, they do it in extreme moderation. in the US, nobody cares about long or even short term effects. They just want to the food now. We are indeed the fatest country.
