Orwell's 1984 is beginning to sound real, huh!
Eventually, everyone of us would need an electronic tag before we can be born.
Most big cities around the world have CCTVs that can track a person over a wide area using different cameras. I know of one city in South East Asia which has plans to catch speeding vehicles and traffic offenders with the aid of CCTVs.
Big brother is watching. Some cameras can be viewed via your own pc at home. Go to the following webpages see some general webcams in action. Mind you the real thing is far superior and give better videos than your own webcams.
This is in Aberdeen http://www.aberdeencity.gov.uk/acci/web/site/xwc_webcamlist.asp
This one overlooks Trafalgar square in London:

This is a traffic cam in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia.Wait for the right window to load.

You see friend everywhere they can have surveilence cameras that are more sophisticated than what you have seen above.

Hello there, Seeker of Magic! First thing you've got to do is find the Warlock's Den on the Distant Mountain. When you reach the Majestic Hall, knock 25.5 times (like staccatto type stuff #musictheory) and yell "hobbit bobbit lobbit snobbit!" until he decides you are ready for your training. If you are chosen, you will be enrolled in the Warlock's Wanna-Be-A-Dragon Boot Camp. After 65 years of tears, sweat, and relentless commitment YOU WILL BECOME A MASTER AT THE ART OF DRAGONERIESONNESSOLOGY. Congrajafrigginlations

Personally I have little sympathy for Ms Lloyd and her cohorts. Even though I realise their behavior has little to do with racism and much more to do with social difference and celebrity rivalry. She freely contracted to enter the BB House and to make such utterances in an essentially public forum suggests a formidable level of ignorance and stupidity. Unfortunately this reflects the dreadful state of the education and "socialisation" of "ordinary" young women in Britain, and I would have anticipated similar comments from any 3 girls randomly selected from the ethnic minorities or from the English majority. On the basis that these 3 women have effectively scuppered their careers (and possibly at least one relationship) do we really want to make martyrs of them? Generating sympathy from elements in our society who feast and grow on this sort of controversy.
Your comments on the increasing levels of monitoring and surveillance are well taken. The pace of technological development has outstripped the competence of our current laws. As well the examples listed above, in at least one London Borough there is software capable of picking out a single face from any of the hundreds of camaras in the Borough. 1984 is with us, and only twenty-three years late .
There would certainly be those who would advovate a written constitution as a means of protecting us from such intrusion. However by setting down what rights we have, we also limit those rights to what is contained in the document.
An alternative might be a really effective Right to Privacy Act. Not just one that "the Great & the Not So Good" could use to intimidate the Tabloids and the paparazzi, but one that ordinary people might use to fend off the Police and any other agency of the state that does not respect their right to a private life.

Sorry to say that Britain has always been a Big Brother State. Certainly England has been so since the reign of Queen Elizabeth First. We are a nation of spies. We spy on our neighbours through our net curtains, they in turn spy on us. We spy each other on the buses and trains and watch each other as we drive our cars. We now have cameras almost everywhere. I've got one on the front of my house. I want guns, hand grenades and flame throwers. You're all far too dangerous. I don't trust any of you. I'm watching you. Remember that.
If like me, you live in London and use either an Oyster Card or in my case ye olde pensioners Freedom Card, you're being tracked while you travel. Every time you slap your card on the reader, 'they' know where you are and where you are going.

I think we have turned into a big brother state to a certain extent. Last year I was a witness to a fatal motor accident. The police told me that they could confirm my account of the incident. CCTV camera coverage had been able to see me for four miles. I did'nt know whether to be comforted or alarmed about this. I think it is something we have to learn to live with

It's 1984 coming into reality, George Orwell, what insight he had!
You remember in the book, smith was watching, through his window, a neighbour, she was in her garden singing as she pegged her washing onto the line, well she was free because she was of no importance to anyone but her family. She wasn't important enough to spy on. She was free!

The country is going too far in invading our freedoms. Apparently they now want to put tracking systems in our cars!
Vote against this online in Government petitions.

Folks, you're behind the times. Your cell phones give police your location. It's called GPS. Big brother has been here for years.

You may laugh but I believe anyone with Sky tv is already primed for listening devices.
Have you noticed when you telephone a company, they know your number? .....yeh, we have the same but.... THEY know your address too.
I have to agree with you - it's a bit scary - but if we don't like it we should do something about it before it's too late.
