How to write a letter to ask a professor to be the supervisor?

I have good proposal for Ph.D in chemical engineering program, but I want a certain professor who will be my supervisor regarding his experiences and proficiency on what I want.

Ask him in person.

Send him an Email telling him that you would like an appointment to talk about your dissertation.
