and my roommate has the router, the password and everything on her computer (basically she sees if I connect my i-pod to my computer )
What is the degree of access to the files on my computer and to monitor what I am browsing on the Internet (can she have access to the passwords on my accounts???) ?
If yes, how can I control that?

It is possible that her router, depending on brand, could be logging all web traffic. It's not likely to capture passwords and such, but that is possible with a network sniffer, which is a freely-available download. If you are that concerned about it, either purchase another router, or talk to her about it.

She can't get into your computer unless she knows the password already.

As for what you browse, it depends on how computer savvy she is. Like another post here says, there is a software called sniffer that can try to read your password when you browse. But this is unlikely because most password protected websites encrypt the password, so I guess your passwords are safe. But I think that, if she is good enough with computers, she can find out what sites you visit (and not what passwords you use to login).

Control - if you are worried about the passwords, I suggest changing all your passwords once now, and then not typing it when shes around. Also scan your computer fully with some antivirus program to get rid of certain programs that might monitor whatever you type (again, this is very unlikely unless your roomie is real smart with these things). I think you should be safe after this. If you think you are still being monitored, let us know, we'll think of other ideas.

she can't get into your computer without your password. as long as you didn't give it to her you are fine. you can also setup your computer so that nothing is shared. right-click on your c drive and go to properties. there should be a security tab. (i am not sure of the exact steps since i am at work right now) but there should be a way to set it up so it is not shared. good luck!
