How about asking a friend to ring you at the time you know he's going to be there and you can make your excuse that you need to go somewhere following the telephone call to you!

text him and tell him you have to go out for a few hours and you will catch up with him another time....OR just say, "look i am not feeling up to having visitors today, make it some other time"...make him hear you....if he insists...then you insist more, just tell him no....your busy and don't want people there....OR just don't open the door when he calls...it's down to you..be the one to call the shots...OR tell him that someone in your family has just called in and is upset so it's not a good time...just make excuses up....he'll get the message eventually

Say you don't feel too well. There is a tummy bug around @ the mo, the sympyoms are a nagging pain under the rib cage, being sick & diarrhea. It lasts a couple of days. Say you have that, & need to sleep it off a little. xxx

Well if i were you id have my shoes on and coat ready so that when he turns up you can just tell him that your sorry but you did tell him that you were busy and that you have to go out and are not sure what time you will be back.
But if he keeps turning up you will have to be straight with him and tell him that you don't want him coming round.
Honesty is the best policy when possible.
Good luck hope you manage to sort it out

Tell him that you've been struck by lightning, etc. And there were wasps. And that it's catching. If he still wants to see you, arrange to meet in a very busy public place and ask if he minds turning up in a gimp suit.
