my work plays tapes as background music, the other day they played a bay city rollers one, and I was bopping away, brought back a lot of memories, although I was to old at the time to be a big fan of thiers I did like thier music, my boss and myself are of a similar age, and we both had memories of a younger sister or cousin being into them big time, but we could not remember, what year in the 70's they came about, even suggestions from other members of staff didn't help, so if any one out there can help it would be much appreciated..thanks

I know for a fact it was in the 77-78 era. I was dating my X-husband and we went to their concert. He told me after the concert he was thinking of joining the service and I threw a fit. p.s. I should have let him go. lol

75-76. They were once so popular some people believed they were the new Beatles. They were the stars of Howard Cosell's variety TV show, I'm not making this up it really happened. Tomorrow post the question "do you remember back in old L A ,when everybody drove a Chevrolet" see if anyone answers.

They were formed in 1967 but their first hit was in 1971 but their big breakthrough came in 1974. Here's a link to their wikipedia page. It's quite comprehensive and has links to some videos of the band if you are that way inclined.

I would say it was around 1978 or so. If I'm not mistaken I was in about 8th grade. It could be a couple or so years before that, but I'm pretty sure I remember watching them on their tv show around that time period.

It was definately in the mid 70's, cos I was still at school when we went to see them at the Mecca in Stevenage.....I left school in summer of 74.
I remember nagging my mum to buy me some tartan material so I could stitch it round the bottom of my jeans.............stripy socks, baseball boots!!!.......Oh those were the days!!
