"And So It Goes" is a ballad written by Billy Joel in 1983, though it wasn't released until six years later, appearing as the tenth and final track of his megahit album Storm Front. The original 1983 demos was released on the 2005 box set 'My Lives'. Joel wrote the song at the close of his relationship with Elle Macpherson, and expressed therein a great longing to be with someone you love, whilst knowing that your relationship may be at an end. Originally accompanied by a simple piano backdrop as Joel croons to an identical melody, it has been covered by many subsequent artists, including Carmen Rasmusen, the King's Singers, and others.
So, ur answer is 1989.
