What does this basketball mean? Why do some players get it but others don't?

The basketball indicates stats that haven't be officailly recorded yet. This usually happens on really late games.

When I see an orange basketball, by a players name, it means they are currently on the court playing.

The orange basketball means that they are still playing in a game currently.

1. Stats don't tell it all but the tell you something. And I am not refering to PPG or APG stuff. There are some things like FT% that don't lie. If you are a good free throw shooter, then your FT% will be high. Also I would rather take Points per Minute rather than PPG. LeBron is more efiicient than Kobe. But that shouldn't be the reason for people to call him better. I will not write here my reasons why I say LeBron is the best. 2. Rings are LESS important than stats IMO because (just like you mentioned Big O and MJ) that would mean Rajon Rondo is better than Chris Paul. Well I don't think you would agree with that. Anyway, rings are good and I would rather have rings than stats. But they don't make me a better individual player than another player who got less talent around him than me. 3. "... when lebron realizes this, he'll win a championship himself" - So you think LeBron failed to get a championship because he chose stats? Why would he then sit out the 4th qtr sometimes when the Cavs win -- shouldn't he be there to have more numbers? IMO, Kobe is the most skilled player (i think he is the best ever in that) but LeBron helps his team better.
