Okay i understand that emo is short for emotional and whatever but i've been emo for a long time and although i have cried, non of my emo guy friends have cried openly in front of me. I think people have it all backwards. Not all emo guys are weaklings like alot of people think either. My emo friends and I love to go jogging and exercise, and one of my friends is all skinny and whatever but he can bench 190! Maybe that's weak for a guy..idk... but what i really think is that Emo is a wonderfull style and everyone should try it out! like me for instance...I'm Emo/Scene and it works for me!!

Number One -- Crying does not make a boi weak. It makes him strong enough to buck a cultural normative that has no basis in any reality other than the Judeo-Islamo-Christian society.
Number Two -- I don't know anyone that thinks goth/emo bois are weaklings. There may be people who do -- but if there are, it is not worth worrying about them.
Boys cry, just like girls do. It's sad if your male friends are too inhibited by the dominant culture to do that. It's common though, emo or not. Help them overcome it. It is better for everyone.

Your question should be do humans really cry. The answer would be yes. Emo kids dont cry more than other people.. people just seem to think they do because of that stereotype. Emo is actually short for emotive hardcore.

Emo yes it is short for emotional. But like you said at the end it is just a style. Emo boys are supposed to apear sad and be into writing sad poetry and seem as though they are manic depressent. But when the curtain is closed and they are around their real friends they can be happy and excited. But as for the appearance of emo they are supposed to look sad. Similar to that of Gothic folks even though some of them are seiously messed up and use these facauds to hide their feelings.

I live more butch dyke/rocker with a little goth thrown in. Emo people have been targets for other groups for a long time and it isn't because of actual traits. It's more so poking fun at stereotypes. Let's face it, you pick a name like emotional/emo and you're gonna get some crap for it.

Emo is a steryotype, steryotypes are never completely true. I'm sure some emo guys cry, but they dont go round wailing the whole time.
