why does lois lane call clark smallville????? i just saw that episode last night where clark saved the killer and i noticed that she kept calling clark smallville.

Beacuse, to her, Clark is the embodiment of small-town.
And, more to the context, Lois calls Clark that when he first comes to work at the Daily Planet in the first Superman movie.

Its a carry over from previous incarnations of the mythology, the first time I ever saw it used was on the WB animated series with Tim Daly and Dana Delanay as the voices of Clark and Lois. In it she hears that its his home town and imediately starts using it as her nickname for him as she feels he'll never be anything more than smalltown/simple/mild mannered.It really worked in the animated series because Lois was a seasoned respected reporter, and CK was new to the Daily Planet and she was forced to team with him, which she resented on some level.
Smallville just carried it over and personally I think it would make more sense in Smallville had they not met the way they did. But to Lois, he is the town personified: quiet, what-you-see-is-what-you-get, boring, etc. She clearly doesn't know the whole story about either him or the town, and being an army brat dismisses both in that manner.

well for her, clark is kinda the epitome of smallville. he's involved in every aspect of the small town!! But even more, she just likes to call him names...lol
