so i always buy sansha but I hate sansha with a passion, i tried 6 different types of capezio and all of them were ugly and now I want to try grishko, the same brand as my pointe shoes (which I love). does anyone have any good ballet shoes that they could tell me about? particularly people with grishko ballet shoes?

p.s. I don't do leather. only canvas. and dont try to make me try capezio or leather again! It will not work.

Bloch split sole. The split sole allows you to point better, and perform wrapped foot moves (like cou-de-pied, especially devant) more easily - no binding sole to bunch up.

Iv'e used bloch, grishko, and sanshas' and they've worked for me but in my opinion if you are getting any type of pointe/ballet shoe you want to have split soles, unless you are a begginer then get a full sole. The split soles break in easily and they are comfortable on your feet, too.

If you can't find any good Grishko shoes, seriously consider Bloch. I have Bloch ballet shoes and pointe shoes, and they are great! If you're set on Grishko, though, try the Discount Dance or Just for Kicks (Kix? can't remember) websites. They always have lots of variety.

I had the same problem, but grishko never fit me correctly on top of it all - so i turned to bloch. they turned out to be amazing. i hate leather as well so i go with the "pump" by bloch. they are the ones my ballet professor likes the best (im a dance major in college).

hope that helps! happy dancing! = )

ballet slippers...there is a dance catalog and website that is own strictly by former dancers... I would call them up and ask them. there prices are great and they know whats out there. They are called "Back Bay Dancwear" try to search it. I like the leather myself ,canvas gets so dirty and i think they dont last as long but like I said you should talk directly to them there is alot to consider just like a point shoe. the length of your toes the cut and width excetra...
good luck!
remember to sew the elastic the right way too that helps with the fit. also maybe if you switch the feet they would last you longer?

It really doesnt't matter. I like canvas better for practice, but leather for performances. Canvas is easier to show the form of you foot I think, but leather are thicker usually and I feel like I get less blisters and stuff when I wear them. I think that both materials will slip the same because both have leather on the bottom. To reduce that though, when you go into class and are about to do turns or something, use a spray bottle and spray some water on the floor. Then kind of rub your foot in it walk around pivoting on your feet for few seconds so that they arent too sticky or too slippery!

BLOCH are great!! They sell more than 1 style too and the best thing about them is they're not that expensive.
