I have tried with a cd-r and a dvd- r but have on the cd photo show and no music,the dvd did not work at all.

Did you follow the directions on photoshow? i.e. Which format was it put in? Photoshow allows you to put it in a number of formats for different purposes. To play on a DVD player, you ues the DVD format on a DVD; or VCD format on a CD. Other formats won't play right.

try using a vcd they work for me when i wanna put music vids on cd x

it should have worked with both those formats. what program are you using to burn?
