It seems to me there ought to be a way of producing better qualified presidential canditate material. Someone well educated, knowledgeable about the world, well versed in world history, science, religions, economics. Various potential presidents are coming out of the woodwork now. All polititions, all dubiously claiming to be qualified and capable of solving the countries problems. But are they. Personally I think its doubtful. Yet nevertheless here we go again about to be forced to select from a hodgepodge of presidential wannabes. They don't inspire much confidence. But we vote anyhow because we think its our patriotic duty and finally narrow it down to 2 unqualifieds that have no business being President. Then we have to decide which one is more likely to do the least damage and vote again. But we really don't know which one will do the least damage. Its a toss of the dice, a crapshoot.

We could produce better candidates if we reformed the election process. The problem is that it takes enormous amounts of money to get elected. You must travel extensively, run TV commercials, newspaper ads, radio spots, etc. You must have a large staff with you to gather information, make travel arrangements, etc. Therefore, the candidates need money, and they get it from people who are trying to buy favor with the candidate.

We need real campaign finance reform - no commercials are allowed in any way. They should hold two debates on television, and the government can pay for the time.

Then anyone would be able to run, and we'd end up with the cream of the crop instead of the lesser of two evils.

Well no one is perfect. Not you. Not me. What you are looking for would have to be God and it would have to be one that does not let bad things happen.
Therefore, you have to do your research and figure out which one will do the best job.
If you don't vote then you have no right to complain when things don't go the way you think they should go.

Let's give every candidate an IQ test, send them to a Dale Carnegie course (to learn diplomacy) and baptize them in all religions so they can make everybody happy.
