Hi. My girlfriend is 7 weeks pregnant too, and she gets sharp pains in her stomach too, due to uterus expanding. Its nothing to worry about, but of course, see your doctor if you have ANY worries.

I'm 7 weeks and right now the only pain I have is in my stomach and my breast. When I cough and sneeze there is no sharp pain. But I think she should go to the doctor to see what is going on just in case it might be something else. I mean all woman get pain different ways. Like I'm all sore and my mother wasn't when she had my brother.

I get the same exact thing, in fact I just sneezed and I had very sharp pains, they go away in like a minute though. As long as they dont last I wouldnt be too worried.

Your uterus is stretching to accomadate the baby, and all the surrounding muscles and tissues are being put under strain. It is probably normal, been a while since I was pregnant, but I remember lots of aches and pains in my lower stomach. When you cough or sneeze, it tightens and pulls the muscles. Just as if you strained a leg or arm muscle, it hurts when you flex it, so would coughing or sneezing flex the muscles in your abdomen. I wouldn't worry about it unless it becomes severe pain, or you have the same pain at other times, or you have contractions or bleeding.
The problem could get worse as your pregnancy progresses.

I had this same pain with all 4 of my pregnancies every time I sneezed, coughed and even when I stood or sat down. I was told it was round ligament pain. The round ligament helps support the uterus. When the uterus grows it stretches out this ligament unfortunately sometimes causing pain.It sounds like your experiencing normal pregnancy pain, but always confront your OB-GYN about any questions or problems. Congratulations and good luck to you!

Have you pulled a muscle in there? Maybe it's not pulled enough to hurt all the time, just when it's moved quickly, ie by a cough or sneeze.

Nothing to worry about - it's just ligaments stretching and very common at this stage of pregnancy.
