He ran away cos he's in money trouble with some dealers, how do I convince him it's better to come home and face it asap, rather than make it worse by staying away. The dealer is a big fat man and not hard at all.

why don't you have a word with the fat man and explain that your friend is a bit worried of the outcome if he does not pay up in full...tell him he is in financial difficulty and will pay him back eventually, or even in installments....have confirmation that this big bloke is not gonna do anything to your friend then tell your friend that he's ok and is to come back....i agree with you....he should face up to it and get it out of the way....running is not going to help him at all....

At this time your friend may have already made it bad for himself. You need to get him to understand that he needs to step up and be a man. He has to deal with whatever he’s done because him running it’s going to make anything go away. Eventually the person that he owes money to if he really wants to can and will find him. It’s better for him to be with family and friends if they do catch up with him. Tell him that his family and friends can only help him if he comes back and sit and talk about how to get him out of his mess.

tell him to grow up, get a grip and come home. he can't keep running away from his problems, and he needs to get off the drugs. there's nothing more effective than tough love. help him sort out his problems by assuring him that you're there for him, and that you also need him.
