am doing an asssignment at coolege and i need defy the term child.

I work in marketing and my company define a child as being upto (and including) 18.

19+ is adult.

After birth and up to 16. You can get married at 16 if you have consent from your parents.

I'm nearly thirty and my friends still call me a child e.g. 'You are such a child'. Not sure if it has to do with mental age but people refer to me as one a lot....actually come to think of it it's a little annoying.

um i think you mean define and it is a child that is born after 40 weeks of pregnancy ie full term

A child is older than an infant but younger than an adult! :-)

It all depends who asks the question....for an insurance company, an airline,etc.....the definition will be different
For me (just to trouble you LOL) my kids, though they are adults still stay.........MY children !!!!
