we have a lodger who is my friend. it's mostly fine accept for one thing. she leaves skid mark in the toilet all the time. how do i tell her with out being really insensitive? it's my house so it's not like it's a equal share. why should I have to clean it all the time. should i skirt around the issue and hopes she gets the hint or should i be blunt at the risk of embarassing her?

tricky one!
Well tell her that you would appreciate it if she kept the bathroom clean tell her that you don't want to have to be the only one who cleans the loo and the bath. Make sure that when you use the loo you put a bit of cleaning fluid round the pan and hopefully she will notice what you are doing and do the same.Hope you sort this without too much **** hitting the pan .

Just turn it around on yourself and say "oh I am so sorry I left a mess in the toilet with skid marks and didn't clean it up" She'll be like huh? And then start thinking "do I do that?" Save some embarrassment.

Filthy cow....well it sounds as though its been going on for some time for you to have asked for help with this. My advice is to perhaps sort out some kind of rota where you take in turns on cleaning the bathroom, if this dosent solve the issue at least then you are in a position to maybe joke that 'you' do a better job than 'she' does,( in a lighthearted way), if she dosent get the message....show her the door. Good Luck x

Leave a sign on top of the toilet: Cleaner on strike. Please ensure you clean when you've been!
If that does not work, leave a bottle of bleach and a bog scrubber in front of the nettie and ask her is she would take on the job of cleaning the toilet as you have enough to do around the house!

Just simply tell her to clean the toilet once she has finished as it is getting grotty dont be rude about it and dont blame her as she might get defencive just say "we have got to start cleaning or bleaching the toilet after we use it " That way you not pinning it on her .
Hope this helps

well it's very difficult for you to be cleaning someone Else's you know what. and it's your house. that is not acceptable especially for a lady. when she does another time ,call her and show it to her and ask her please not to leave it like that again. you don't have to it in a way in which it will embarrass her. try to be considerate at the same time about how she will feel when you show her what she has done. but she has to understand the work should be shared equally. i don't think she is considerate of you at all if she does it continually.

ok....leave the brush and cleaner next to the toilet, maybe she will get the hint.....or leave a little sticker on the wall with (please clean toilet after use) don't go cleaning it after her...i wouldnt, infact i would not be so tactful i would just say, look once you've used the loo...clean it....simple as, it's more embarrassing for you to find the loo full of her skiddies than it is to tell her i think

Buy one of those toilet brush things (although unhygienic) - if you leave it next to the toilet your friend might get the hint. Otherwise you could leave bleach next to the toilet. Good luck!

buy a new brush and cleaner and just say to her.. '' oh I brought a new brush for the toilet as I dont think the old one was doing a great job at cleaning'' will make her think at the very least.

skirt arount it for a while until she does it for the second time and then just ask her nicely to "check the toilet bowl after she uses it" if that doesnt work just tell her to clean the bowl after she is done or your gonna have to charge her a cleaning fee.
