The Message Bible.

Any Christian retailer, or at any normal store such as Target, Walmart, etc...

You have several options you could choose from

New Living Translation
Good News Translation (formerly Today's English Version)
New International Readers Version (NIRV)
Today's New International Version (TNIV)
New International Version (NIV)
New Century Version (NCV) (also known as International Children's Version)
Living Bible (which is a paraphrase and not a translation)
the Message (which is a paraphrase and not a translation)

Most of these translations can be read online. Or searched online. I would try reading a familiar passage in two or three of the translations at least and finding one that 'sounds' best to you.

You can go to any Christian bookstore (or general bookstore if that is what is available in your area) and spend time browsing in the Bible section. It's important to get one that you'll be comfortable with. Have your sister with you and let her be part of this decision. They do have 'specialized' bibles for teens, children, young women, women, etc. that you might be interested in that provide either devotional or study features.

Yes, there is a Contemporary English Version that is very easy to read and understand you might also want to try a Teen Bible that has a section that says topics and where they can be found in the Bible.

There is a Bible called "The Message" it is written in story form and is easier to understand. There is also a New International Version Study Bible for teens that is excellent. It has study notes to help you understand the scriptures you've just read and how to apply them in your life. Really good Bible.

You can also try The Living Bible. If you purchase the Bible from a Christian book shop they can help you and her select one that will be easy for her to read and understand.

I highly recommend "The Women's Life Bible". It not only is a bible but has wonderful bits of life advice and encouragement. For a 12 year old girl, it would be perfect.

YOu can order a copy of the new world Translation it is plain english anf easily understood. YOu can order it right from any Jehovah's witness wo comes to your door and it only costs he price of a donation. HTey also have an MP3 version that you can listen to right from your dvd player. It is awsome especially if you are not a strong reader. OF have vision probles or migrain headaches. You can sit back on your sofa and follow along with the reader in your Bible. THey also have tapes of bible dramas on MP3 that are excellent such as the isrealites leaving egypt.

Hi,
Since your sister is beginner, I would recommend the Good News Bible. Amazon has got a good deal on that version of the Bible. You will be happy with your purchase. This is the site:

http://www.amazon.com/Good-News-Bible/dp/1585160814/sr=8-1/qid=1170425869/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-0010878-8787946?ie=UTF8&s=books

But, in case if you want the catholic edition, I mean, if you want the deuterocanonical books then you might need to consider another version. You can find that at:

http://www.amazon.com/Good-News-Bible-Deuterocanonicals-Apocrypha/dp/1585160687/sr=8-2/qid=1170425869/ref=sr_1_2/104-0010878-8787946?ie=UTF8&s=books

Hope this would be of help. My best wishes.
