A free spirited person is very far and few between these days. It is a person who will not cast any judgement on you because you do things differently. Will accept any new ideas and will think about it. They feel that they can do whatever they set their minds to because they believe in themselves. They have no ristrictions that may keep them in one situation. They can freely move about if they see that their current actions are resulting in nothing. They do like to laze about but that's just lazing about in the general society's term. They may sleep for 3 days but then the next 3 days they may work flat-out. They like to divulge from the norm and do things when it suits their frame of mind the best. Some might feel that they are most productive between the hours of 2am and 5am when most of us are asleep and they may sleep from 7am until 3pm. That's basically it. Personal experience.

Someone who wont be tied down by normal restraints especially fear of bad consequences. They flit around, flirting with danger. They are beautiful- naturally creative, very open & honest, almost Angelic in an innocent & provocative way, as if they are trying to inspire & lead us to discovering more about the way we should be... When I think of free spirits, I think of (fragile) flowers & nymphs, with magical wings who watch over nature...

It can mean care free, not responsible, manic, out of touch with the world, self-centered, childish.... it tends to be a polite way of describing someone who is childishly out of touch with the feelings of others and not ready for adult responsibilities.
