First, whether or not Gary Glitter should be released from prison is not a decision to be made by anyone other than those in Vietnam. He broke Vietnamese laws, was convicted in Vietnam and is currently serving time in Vietnam. We should have learned a lesson from the Vietnam War by not meddling in their affairs.
Second, Vietnam does have strict pedophile laws with punishments that include death. Why Gary Glitter is not dead right now is because he has money. It is renowned that communist officials in Vietnam suddenly turn capitalist when give the correct amount of financial incentive. In other words, he did an O.J. on the Vietnam Criminal Court System to stay alive.
In my opinion, Gary Glitter should be RELEASED as soon as possible and then DEPORTED from Vietnam so that it will be easier to kill him for being a pedophile. Then again, things might happen to him shortly after he is released that would solve the problem. He could mysteriously wind up dead in a dark ally of Saigon or floating down the Mekong with his throat slashed. We can only hope...

Gary Glitter should be detained behind bars for ever . Once anyone commits a sexual crime against children they should never be given their freedom again. However he will be released eventually like so many other paedophiles and children will carry on being sexually abused even murdered . It's about time that the crime should carry a life imprisonment sentence and not a silly couple of years like it is in most cases.
Hotlips I agree fully with you I was also outraged when I read in the papers about the baby .

This man should be executed for his crimes so should all the other paedophiles.
A man in the UK news recently raped a 13 month old baby and he was only sentenced 6 years and about 30 years ago a man called charles bronston robbed a bank and held one man hostage but didn't lay one finger on him and he got life and has spent 27 of the 30 years in solitary confinement even though he never murdered or raped anyone. our legal system is backwards

No - Gary Glitter is a predator - children will never be safe whilst he is free to roam the streets. He should be given a life sentence without parole. The guy is a menace to children!!

I am surprised the Vietnamese government is even considering letting him go. Maybe the value of life over there hasn't increased that much over the years. It is a shame but I would let him go (if I knew there was a pack of hungry dogs outside the prison gate).

i agree that gary glitter should be released early. he should then be taken to the prison courtyard and shot like he would have been had he not paid off the girls family.
