1. bush has nothing to do with tv programming, so ignore skynet
2. the show ran its course. the creators felt it was time to end it, so it had its last episode and that was the end. same with cheers, barney miller and alot of other comedies. reasons for ending shows include drops in ratings (usually the show being cancelled without a final episode), the actors decide they want to do something else, a story running to its end (some shows are not meant to have long life spans because of the stories involved-twin peaks was supposed to i think run only one season and the show became so popular that they pushed it further. the sopranos had a time limit on episodes, too) or the writers running out of ideas.

It's been cancelled a long time. Every show goes off eventually, because there's only so many things you can do with a given premise.

Unless there was a scandle that became public, or the show reached completion, the only other plausible answer is that the show just sucked.
I never watched it nor cared to watch it and perhaps the cons outweighed the pros. I was not watching much TV during that time.
These days, there don't seem to be to many good American TV shows. Almost half are either a copy of American Idol or Pimp My Ride. These producers have no creativity anymore.
One show I have found worth watching is Afro Samurai on Spike.
