i can see it now. all the rich would get a condo built there. donald trump would be a tower for sure. MTV would have their tv cameras at mars to film mars cribs. we would have mars makeovers. and they would send two families there to live for 2 weeks. tyra banks would make sure the lighting was just right for photos for mars first top model. it would be a successful venture, until we all get tired of the same ol thang.

First thing they would do is to think of alternate source of energy and set up Labs in Mars. colonizing people wont happen (if it happens) until later years. It is basic instinct of any species on this planet to spread across wide areas as part of survival technique. At this time, we might think..."why do we have to leave this beautiful planet and go to deserted place like mars to work in labs". Well....everything has a beginning and so this is just a small step for future. This is just a "just in case" idea if global warming were to kick in full swing. When mistake space travel saying ... "so we are leaving earth and go there". Thats not true. Thats very lame way of thinking. The entire population of earth is not going to leave earth for good and go to another planet tomorrow. The search for habitual planets is to understand our own exsistence and to spread to increase the rate of survival.

For example, venus is sometimes called earth's twin. But venus's atmosphere is the most deadliest with thick acidic clouds. Scientists are trying to study why venus(which once would have been like earlth) became so harsh and inhabitable. Understanding that fact, will give us better understanding of our own earth. Some scientists see venus as earth gone bad.

--There is a great chance to live in peace on this planet and yet what has been done?

--What do you think will be done to a brand new planet not touched by the so-called human ingenuity?

--How many trillions & trillions of millions of dollars do you think it would take to just enclose a livable atmosphere on Mars the size of a mall, that we have so majestically wonderful on this earth?

--How many people on this earth will continue to starve while an enourmous fun land on Mars is funded for the rich and infamous to have fun & games on a planet that is totally uninhabited for any kind of life?

--Do you really think that--that is the solution for the benefit of mankind?

There will be a big push to send people there to mine the resources. This would, of course, involve making space travel a bit more practical.
