if you mean a private pension, then as soon as you start work on a full time basis, my husband and myself are both nearing retirement age, and with our private pension and state pension together, we cannot afford to stay in this country, we have done our sums based on 2007 costs ie food utilities, glasses things that as humans we cannot live without and we are left with £3 per month and that is no car and no spending money, not even for xmas presents for our grandchildren. so my advice is invest as much as you can safely for you future.

I don't know but most people start worrying about it far too late in life and end up not being able to save enough for retirement. Unless you have a really good company pension scheme with work, you should take a pension out as early as possible, with people living to older ages the state pension will be worthless in the next 20 years or so. a good financial adviser will recommend you start making small contributions in your 20s, if you can afford it.

Should take out a pensions as soon as you are able to pay into one. Some company even contribute into your pension which helps boost it.
Average age for people to take out their pension is when they reach 65, although expect this to rise if you are very young now.

don't worry about the average age....start saving as soon as u can....in years to come there won't be a state pension!!

don't know about the average but you should take one out as soon as you start earning.
my dad encouraged me take one out at 20 and i've yet to thank him!!
it's like an insurance policy for old age!!
