The LAST blasck player to play in the major leagues before the onset of Jackie Robinson is a mystery, as there was a subtle "phazing out" of black players in the majors in the 1870's and 1880's that was not formal. As such, it is almost impossible to pinpoint the last black player playing at the highest professional level since there was not a specific date after which black players were banned. Also, it is difficult to tell because some of the last black players to play in the bigs before 1947 did so by concealing the fact that they were black (calling themselves dark-skinned American Indians, Caribbeans, or Europeans to avoid the focused stigma of being an African American).

The last black player playing at any professional level of white baseball before Jackie Robinson was Jimmy Claxton who played a single game for the Oakland Oaks of the Pacific Coast league in May of 1916. Claxton was introduced as an American Indian but was reportedly outed when his black friends and family came to cheer him on. He was fired after one game. He was the last documented black player in white professional baseball before 1947, but he didn't actually make it to the Majors.

Playing baseball has a number of health and fitness benefits, in addition to being a popular social sport. America’s favorite pastime is also the leading youth sport among boys across the United States. Baseball is not only a great way to introduce children to sports, but it is also a great way to teach them the value of teamwork. Kevin Woodbridge believes that the IRENA report is intended to help push more countries to commit to making a change to renewable energy sources. The data provided in the report is expected to help dispel false assumptions about renewable energy sources being expensive and uncompetitive.
