I am not gay nor do not have the desire to be. I am however hurt by how some people treat gays. I believe some of them are born that way and thats how they will be for the rest of their lives. I do not know of any gay person personally - so I wonder why do I defend these people and I am in no way connected to them!

Its because you can easily understand human emotions. You believe in justice and concerned about happiness to everyone in the society, even minor sections. You could have went through any situation in life or going through some issues that people don't easily understand you or they are prejudiced. Basically, You are a sweet person. You want others to be treated as you would like to be treated.

Your attitude gives me hope that the rest of the world will someday have the morals that you do. You feel the need to defend because the way gays are treated is wrong. In all probability, you do know a gay person, and don't even know they are gay.

Oh, I love "links" answer to this question... gay people aren't born that way because there ae no gay babies! Wow! What a well thought out and intelligent response! No, really.. it must have taken hours to come up with that one! There are no straight babies, either. Babies are learning about the world in every way. they don't think "Hmm... there's a guy, he's hot." or "Wow, what a great pair of hooters." That may be the worst argument against homosexuality since the dumb Adam and Steve comment.

It's called moral reasoning. You have reasoned that their actions in no way have a detrimental effect on your life or those around you. In other words - live and let live.

Also, it's none of your business or anybody elses for that matter what people do in their private lives, as long as it in no way causes harm. If someone can give me a logical reason why being gay is wrong, I'd like to hear it. All I've ever heard is references to religious doctrines, always taken out of context, and having no basis in fact or applicable to the human experience.

Because you have a strong sense of compassion and social justice? For someone who doesn't yet know which of his friends are gay and which aren't (trust me, some of them are), I'd say you're ahead of the game. Get educated, get empowered, affect change. Get involved in a queer rights group. Stop by the school's GSA. Learn more (because you do have a ways to go).

There are some people who believe everyone is equal. Take for an example how I get very upset when someone makes a rude comment about African Americans and I am white. It's a good thing to be the way you are so please don't worry about it. We need people like you to help us receive the rights we deserve.

Because you are a caring person. You are in touch with your feelings about people who hurt other people. You believe that it is wrong and are effected by it. I am going to speculate that probably this isn't the only issue that you get hurt by because of your sensitivity to hurt. It's a good thing. It shows you have a nurturing soul and a loving heart.

Seems to me that you can be lured in the the gay lifestyle if you are not careful. Gay is a horrible lifestyle, it gives the wrong idea of love to the children, it mutilates sex as it should be but they are people nonetheless. Do not bash the people, bash the homosexuality. If you sought to understand life, then you will find that this life is more than just existing; It has purpose. If you ever seen the unnatural act of two gay people men or women having sex, you could feel the evil. Gay is BAD, but the only thing we can really do, is pray for them, and let them live as they choose, but to let them overlap into the lives of others with their beliefs, well, that is a different story. You can defend the people, but to defend homosexuality, well, just might mean that you are leaning towards being gay

Well, I'm glad to hear that you feel that way. But you don't have to be connected in any way to know that people need to be treated with respect and dignity. We gays would like to live in peace, without abuse and harassment. I wish there were many more people like you, who feel that humans should be treated respectfully
