Whatever the other cellphone provider requires, verizon requires it too, they need a valid photo ID (drivers license,state id, un expired pasport), SSS, to check your credit, if your credit is kinda shaky they ask for a deposit, they might require a credit card for them to run your credit and as an extra identification purpose

I don't know if its true of all services, but with Verizon, there is a clause in their contract that says you will be charged $175.00 if you break the two year agreement.

i dont think a credit card is necessary....but you would need a bank account....look on their web site and find out to be sure
