This is an interesting question, but one I really cannot do justice to in answering. Politics, of one sort or another, have been part of man's social structure from the beginning. I see the problem being that WE (the people) have allowed (even encouraged) these power hungry people to thrive, rather than making sure they have strict limitations. Of course once the politicians had/have power to make the laws they cover their collective butts. The U.S. government is a prime ,present day, example as when our " Founding Fathers " created it it was meant to be no more than a committee from the states for debate and organization and NOT the " All Mighty " control freak thing it has become. All the negative results of course was done by Politicians for POWER..that is the goal..Power, the absolute corrupter. Sorry I could not be of more help.

The word 'politics' has become a very dirty one today. It conjurs images of lies and spin and deception. And I believe that politics don't govern the people, the laws do. The political game is merely theatre...and I suggest we all take a pass. Let it open and close the same night. Stop paying such close attention to all the shenanigans and name calling, and stop investing so much energy in the crap! I suggest we all do our research independently, on the issues. Watch the presidential debates...then vote. Let the media play their games, but stop giving them your time and attention. Its time the American people stood up and said they were tire of all the politics, and lets get back to government. Those politicians work for us, and we need to put them on notice!

I don't think it's possible because there are always going to be people who have "special interests". These special interest people will aid or destroy a person who has the ability to endorse and represent us in passing legislation. So, since there are at least 2 oppossing sides...the politician... has to POLITIC his/her way through...."taking the bribe"..."not taking the bribe"...."sticking to his/her beliefs"...or "doing what's right for most people"...
