should the goverment ask the troops if they want to leave and let those who want to leave do so..and only keep those who want to fight there..after all that would be fair..maybe its time to ask any who wants to fight to fight..no matter what...take any one that wants to fight..

No they have to be an instrument of the United States government which should be an extension of us. Think of us as the body. The government as your hand. And the troops as silverware. Should the body ask the silverware if it is okay to use it? Or should the body starve to death and die off for the silverware's sake. I almost went into the Army. My best friend is still in the Airforce. He knew that he was a tool to be used by our US government. And I would have felt the same if I went in. The only reason you would not want the military is to be tools for the US to use is you do not believe in the Democratic-Republic elected officials and the American people who elect them.

I personally think that troops should not have a choice even though i would be happy to have a choice. U see, us, human by nature are afraid to die. And in the case of wars where life lose cant be avoided, and if these troops are given a choice to go home, im pretty sure that almost all of them will go home as they did not wanna die in the battle field.

however, if they dun have a choice, they will fight for their life in the front line as they dun wana die. This is important for the copuntry and the civilians.

Yes Those who have already done a tour should not have to do another one and those who are at the end of their enlistment should be able to leave the military if they so choose and not have their time on duty extended against their will which is what is now happening

Yes! I am worried about the people who are brainwashed though into thinking this is an honorable war, rather than a war that was started without United Nations approval. The US looks like bullies... there is no solution. This is insanity!

The military is not a democracy. You are told where you will fight.

Chances are, you will have the same amount of troops you started with because a soldier will not leae his comrades. We came in this together, we'll leave together.

It's something people who havent' been in the military just don't understand.

Uh... I suppose they do have a choice. What you are really asking is should they be able to break a very serious contract, abandon our nation in a time of war, and do this without suffering any consequences.

And the answer to that is **** NO. Our fast food mentality is going to get our nation destroyed.

I'm sorry but this has got to be one of the stupidest questions I have ever heard. If they don't want to be in the Military, then don't enlist/re-enlist. I would probably guess that of the soldiers in Iraq/Afganistan, 90 percent of them have either enlisted or re-enlisted since we first went in. Please tell me your were just kidding!

Army is all about following orders. No suggestions nor opinions are entertained.

No, that would not work.

Our troops are soldiers in an army. And in an army, there are ranks and rules. Soldiers who do not follow the ranks and rules cannot be good soldiers.
