You would normally think shampoo is basic, since most soap are basic. Both soap and shampoo wash dirt away, so it would be plausible to think that they are both bases... right? Not quite.

Most commercial shampoos in U.S. are made slightly acidic in pH, since a basic environment weakens the hair by breaking the disulfide bonds in hair keratin.

This means that when you test your Shampoo with either pH meter or litmus paper, it should come out slightly acidic. When this weak acid is diluted, you are reducing the Concentration of H+ or hydronium (H3O+). Remember that the pH = -log [H+], therefore when the shampoo becomes less acidic as you add more water, the pH should shift from acidic (lower than 7 pH) to neutral pH which is pH 7.

Thus, when the weak acid (shampoo) becomes more like water as it is diluted, the pH increases.

nicely, they deliberate on a a million trillion greenback deficit for this financial 3 hundred and sixty 5 days that basically ended. however the tax sales because of the fact of investments interior the markey, made a risk via those tax decreases, particularly drove down the deficit via producing seven-hundred million funds in unpredicted taxes. pH is a measure of the concentration of hydrogen ions in a solution and is a logarithmic scale. The scale runs from 0 (max acid) to 14 (max alkaline) and 7 is neutral (as for distilled water). Dilution with distilled water should drive the solution toward 7 (neutral) but the effect is not linear.

Theoritcally speaking the pH of the shampo will not change because addition of water does not change the number or the quantum of Hydroxyl and hydrogen ion concentration in the shampoo.Unless you use any diluent of acidic or basic nature there will be no change in pH.
