Rats usually do not attack. But if are cornering it and the only way out is through you.It might try to jump or bounce towards you. Many mistake it as an attack rather than desperate move on the part of the rat to escape capture.

In my field of work, I deal with rats all the time. They only attack when they are threatened for their life, or cornered with their young. The odds that one would actually leap up and attach to your neck is about 12%. Lucky enough for me, I have never been assaulted by a rodent!

It wont attack unless you corner it or catch it. I found that one out the hard way, for some reason I wanted to catch a rat and I did and then it bit me. Oh and by the way, they dont carry rabies, I found that out in the hospital

No chance what so ever, unless it was trapped and the only way out would be to attack. Normally they hear you coming and scurry back to their lair a long time before you arrive on the scene

As long as it can run away and hide, it will. If you chase it and corner it, it may turn on you to make you run and hide.
