I lost my job October 18th 2006. Upon this happening I requested my child support be re-evaluated. They granted my request. Much to my suprise they called my ex-wife in first and visited with her for about 30 min. (Keep in mind I pay my support and maintain health insureance on my child, in other words I am not behind) the woman ask me what my reason was for requesting this hearing, so I told her, she did her thing on her computer for about 10 min, then we discussed the matter at hand. They denied my request to temperarly reduce my support, (in the mean time my ex snickering and makeing comments under her breath) in fact they tried to raise the support. I ask for her to be removed from the room and the ladie just sat there with her smartelick remarks like it was. I want everyone to know I do not have a problem supporting my child, but come on, it wasnt my fault for loosing my job. Now 3 mon latter I have job, not as good, so I have to use my tax return for a lawyer to have it reduced.

Do what you have to do---You must petition the courts to modify your support. If you don't get a modification your support will not be reduced. Changes in your circumstances are grounds for a reduction in child support.

This worker whom ever colaborated with your wife was not professional and should be reported to their superior. Do this in writing and make that formal complaint.

I've never heard of a social worker being able to deny a request for reduction in support. The courts and a judge are the ones that can make that decision.

Spend the $$$ hire a good family attorney and do what you have to do for peace of mind!

You should have complained about the lady on the computer to her supervisor and your ex should have been removed when she started snickering and making comments . This lady on the computer obviously is not a proffesional and I would report her to her superiors and request that she not be on my case anymore . good luck to you .
