monuments were actually built by our ancestors(kings) to expose their talented sculptures and artist but not only for that also it was built with a purpose like - to watch out enemies or the entry of other kings into their territory. the monuments also say about their immense wealth. now monuments are a main source to know many details like-
1.the culture of a territory
2.the minerals and metals available in an area
3.the art
4.the way of life
so monuments say how our was in the past centuries in each and every fields.

Monuments were made mainly becoz of the following reasons.


1. To express talent of the King or Emperor.

2. To make a mark in history.

3. Some times monuments were built as the victory symbol.[ Quwatul-Islam mosque near Qutab Minar]

4. Some times to give employment to the poor people. [e.g. 'Bhool Bhulaiyan' of Lucknow was built to help remove unemployment]

5. Some monuments were made to fight the fury of nature.[e.g. 'Hawa Mahal of Jaipur, Aram Bagh of Agra etc]

6. Some monuments were built to protect the inhabitants living inside.[Like many forts ]

7. Some were made to rule the people from.[Like Fateh Pur Sikri]
