I used to work for someone who had the large top loader and this is still working a dream. They had a large whirlpool tumble dryer and this has given quite a few problems over the years. Would love a whirlpool washer myself and the 10kg size load is great.

We used to have a Whirlpool. So did my parents and my in-laws. All three machines lasted over 10 years. Don't buy a washer/dryer. Buy a separate washing machine and a drier. There are too many things to go wrong with a combo, and on driers the heating element never lasts very long.

I don't know about whirlpool but I do know about the new Kenmore elite front loader washer and dryer----they are beyond great. very, very quiet and perfect in every way. We just redid our laundry room and kitchen with all kenmore elite products and I can't stop raving. It does pay to pay extra for top of the line. And while I'm raving, we also bought the GE trash compactor and I want to know WHY compactors aren't standard in every kitchen - - it makes a world of difference. We now take out the garbage bag once a week instead of 2-3 times a day. (Although we put food scraps in a separate little container for daily toss-out)

I had a Whirlpool washing machine - they're inexpensive, but it did fail after 2 or three years (mine was a combo washer dryer though, and it was the dryer bit that failed).
They don't have the world's greatest reliability record in the UK.

They are absolute trash. I bought one from a dealer in Ohio and the belt and motor went on it the first 6 months. Then, the tub developed a leak 2 months later and the motor was fried again.
I'll buy a maytag next time.

They are not as good as the older model's but if your in the UK you'll find all the washers theses day's are rubbish, compared to the older stuff. But the price's have dropped, so it's the old saying "you get what you pay for". If it was my money i was spending, I'd buy the one of the Bosch range, represents good value for money in today's market.

You can get a good or bad one with any brand. Nip down to the local library and look at the statistics and expert tests in Which? Magazine.
