So what if you're chunky and overweight? How well do you skate? How are your stickhandling skills? Can you pass/shoot/etc.? For some reason (Hollywood probably) people think overweight people make good goalies. The truth is the goalie should be the best skater on the team. You need to be very athletic and have great reaction, reflexes and mobility otherwise you're just a wall in front of the net to block initial shots but not get to the rebounds. You really should tell this place what position you want to play, and work it out with them. It will be both to your advantage and your team's advantage.

Being overweight has nothing to do with position in hockey. I've seen behemoths play wing and beanpoles play defense and goalie--and they all played their positions quite well. The great thing about hockey is that anybody of any size can play, and they can play any position. The skill that will determine how well you play is skating. As Wayne Gretzky says, the better you can skate, the better you can play.

You can tell what position you'll be put in as by hitting practice hard and focusing on your skills. If you skate backwards well, you stand a better chance at playing Defense. If you are great and receiving passes and making yourself open to get the puck/ball, you may find yourself at forward. If you've enough money to buy goalie pads and show interest in the position, you may play in net.

If you don't skate well right now, you'll go wherever the coach or team needs you until they figure out where you need to be to benefit the team.

Don't fret about your position. They're all enjoyable. If there is one you prefer, however, you should let people know and try to get playing time in that position. As you play more, you'll get familiar with it and people will help you understand what they expect from you.

Dude it all depends on 1 thing. HOW HARD YOU ARE WILLING TO WORK! if you try, you can play any position but if u piss and moan you will not play any position. it really does not matter much how you are built in inline unless its very competitive or if it is a contact league

defense for sure, you have to be in good condition to be a goalie.use your weight advantage to lean on the forwards that are trying to screen you goalie and your weight should help when you do have that occasional and accidental hit, since i have never seen any full contact roller leagues.

They dont and i dont give a care if you a little over weight, if you can skate good and shoot good it wont matter. There are plenty of big forwards like Bertuzzi before the sucker punch.
