Yes it will. I know. because I was stuck on the side of the road with jelled diesel fuel. They do sell an additive that will prevent it from freezing. Check a truck stop for it. Don't listen to those idiots who say it won't. Ask any long haul trucker. It won't freeze solid, but it will damn sure jell.

Friends, Petrol car is easy to maintain, low NVH levels, good pick up in compare of Diesel cars are now past. Now days if you are driving a diesel car since 1-1.5 years, i'm honestly saying, you will not like pertol. For example, Take Swift vxi and vdi, Both are same brand but differs by fuel type. The pick up, acceleration, 0-100 km/h timing which you'll get in vdi, that you'll never get in vxi. Basically for a driving experience, diesel gives you far better experience. Deisel's CRDI technology is a way superior than of an MPFI technology of petrol. More, I would like to give an example of both swifts. Statistics for Petrol - 1) Price of Swift VXi (on-road) – Rs. 6.34 lakhs 2) Price of petrol (per litre) – Rs. 78.4/- 3) Swift petrol overall average (km/l) - 11 4) Running cost/km – Rs. 7.12/- 5) Running cost per person per km – Rs 1.42/- Statistics for Diesel - 1) Price of Swift VDi (on-road) – Rs. 7.71 lakhs 2) Price of diesel (per litre) – Rs. 58.4/- 3) Swift diesel overall average (km/ l) - 16 4) Running cost/km – Rs 3.65/- 5) Running cost per person per km – Rs 0.73 Note: A diesel car is costly at showroom but it has more resale value as well.

Deisel will jell in low temperatures unless you add a conditioner to it during the low temperature months. As for gasoline, no it does not freeze, but if there is any water in the fuel line or tank, that will freeze. Use a gasoline antifreeze to remove any unwanted water in the fuel system.

It won´t freeze like water to ice,but it can jell and thus close the ignition system and the hoses.
As a prevention you can use special additives.
