Is education important, the Americans have become world leaders with a very poor educational system?

You mean the few have become wealthy and powerful on the backs of the less educated. We seem to have the capacity to turn out top-notch political manipulators. Our government's priorities have nothing in common with the priorities of the average American. We like to believe we are world leaders in this and that but the facts speak volumes to disprove those claims. We are being out educated by many other countries and our jobs are being outsourced to them in the name of global competition when the truth is actually more profit for the few.

Yes, education is very important. And yes, america has a poor educational system for high schools but usually their colleges are top notch, so the colleges usually put people in their places very quickly

Our K through Twelve is lacking in many areas but all that is ever really necessary is to teach a child how to learn and have information available. It seems we are still a world leader in our college programs. People from all over the world come here to learn.

Whoever told you Americas educational system is not very good is the one that needs a better education. While it is not perfect, and needs work in places, it is still one of the best in the world. Especially secondary education.

The reason America does so well isn't because of education, the reason is that we are harder working, more focused, and better equipted to overcome obstacles than any other country.
