Okay so at school we have a social studies textbook that mentions Star Trek and The Wizard of Oz (Both which I love.) But doesn't mention Stonewall, The Gay Rights Movement, The LGBT victims of the Holocaust, I'd rather be a foot note than not get mentioned at all. Finally they mention all the president's wives (or in Thomas Jefferson's case since his wife died before he became president his wife's half sister who was a slave and whom he had a long relationship with) but never once mention Buchanan's life partner, Rufus King.

They don't mention any gay people, That will breed more homophobia, if we kids don't see them in history we will think they just came and just started fighting.

And we LGBT kids, If we don't know our past we won't have a future.

Is there anyway to make my school get new textbooks that teach us about not only 'regular' history but LGBT history? And if so do you have any suggestions about how to go about it and a series thats good for it?

Most school libraries have at least one book on freaks.

The best I can say, is if you're in a public school (meaning you can't get in too much trouble for it), is research it and bring it up in class. Make people realize that the absence is noteworthy. The politics of the textbook industry are...complex. And very big. I don't want to talk you out of trying to affect change, but it might not be the local schoolboard's fault; there might not be any good options for them regarding textbooks. If you bring it up in class (and with a little research, you can hit upon some of the bigger points that should be in there: the homophile groups up to the 50's like Mattachine and Daughters of Bolitis, Stonewall of course, all the way up to Queer Nation and the Lesbian Avengers), they can't silence you, right?

This is a good chance for you, and others who care, to get involved. You might start by going to a PTA meeting and bringing it up and trying to get some backing. Try doing some research and see if you can find a textbook that's a better alternative and present it to the PTA. Try to find out what the financial issues are as far as replacing textbooks and when new textbooks will be purchased. Once you have a plan and facts and figures, do some research on your school board. Find out when they have public meetings and who is on the board and try to talk to them, either at the meeting as a group or make individual appointments. Draw up a proposal for them and make your points clearly.

Good luck!

You'd have to find the books first by contacting groups that would know, like HRC, or/and contact the publishers. Find books that are all-inclusive and fight to have them used. Get your school's GSA involved. Get your parent's involved. Get the media involved. Petition the school board. Do what you have to to make it happen. I'd highly recomend getting a group involved that specializes in LGBT rights and legal battles so that you "play your cards right." It is very possible for this to backfire and the school board completely ban any book that even mentions an LGBT person or character.

Besides the ideas of going to your PTA and going to local organizations to get textbooks and legal help, why not put on a display at your school of GLBT people in history. You might want to get your GSA to help you out with this. The more allies you get the less the oppostition will bother you.

Start a petition and get as many signatures on it as you can. Then present the petition to the school board trustees. If that doesn't work, keep at it until the influence the GLBT community has had on history is recognized.

There are some series that are all-inclusive. Generally, to find that, you would need to call various textbook publishers to see what they have available. Generally, something like that would have to go through the school board as well.

movie star Wars.Kirk is nice along with his fists, yet movie star Wars is loaded with epic lightsaber duels that are skillfully choreographed. Darth Vader is between the final, scariest villains in movie history. movie star Trek has a team of creepy Vulcans and Romulans and such, And the corny Khan along with his feathered mullet and waxed chest. Spock is ruled via good judgment, yet Chewbacca is the stronger co-pilot. inspite of the movie star Wars prequels lacking, they have been good of their own appropriate with the aid of good character progression that explains the place it began out. movie star Trek on the different hand had approximately 3 good video clips out of 11. i did no longer look after the corporation series and that i found it stressful to stay conscious for the period of "movie star Trek: The action photograph."

You can start off by starting a gay straight alliance group if your school doesn't already have one. Start a petition and get as many people to sign it as you can and hand it over.

Good luck.
