anti virus programs can only detect the name of a trojan virus. If you have its exact name you can download manual removal instructions and in some cases specially designed free removal tool for that particular trojan virus
here is one tool try it
http://viruscleaner.blogspot.com/2006/12/trojan-removal-tool-from-symantec.html
(but it will only be effective for the type of trojan virus mentioned in it)
Here is a complete list of free tools available from symantec
http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/security_response/removaltools.jsp
You will need to disable system restore option, as trojan information gets copied in restored files, thus the computer can be affected again when you run system restore. After that you will need to boot the computer in safe mode and then run the virus scans (using your antivirus program)
This is the way you have to run the scans when it is a trojan
the link below explains it in more detail

I agree. Anti-Virus software may have removed the virus, but it will not fix the damage done to your computers files.
I would also reccomend a system restore. Actually, i would go the whole 9-yards and format your hard drive and re-install windows.

I am sorry these people do not know the root cause of your problem. If you are getting a message saying "Your computer is infected" or a message saying "Windows has detected your computer is infected. Please install and antivirus" or anything like that, this means you are infected with the nasty Smitfraud trojan. Go here for complete removal instructions.
