It seems there's this whole big denial thing going on because people hear the 'big' news about global warming and the like but don't want to have to change things in their 'small' world. Like, a lot of people would be "Well, a big four wheel drive is envorinmentally unsound, but I feel safer on the road, which has more direct impact on my life", or "Well, I could take a coffee cup to work, but then I'd have to wash it, and I'm busy", or "Well, even if I do reduce my disposable waste consumption, my neighbours are still going to put their cans of special brew in the bin, so what's the point?"

What do you think?

Some people do think like this and it annoys me. On the 4X4 fromt you should only have one if you NEED one, they are not safer anyway. The point is that if you do recycle you are making a positive impact and if the council are going to pick my recycling up for me I may as well use the service, I have paid for it after all! Alot of the things you can do to help the environment actually save you money too so there is one incentive.

The problem is that there are so many types of packaging on just one item that I don't know where to put them, I mean take chicken, you have cling film, a sort of foam tray, and then another paper thing that the chicken sits on to absorb any juices....that's 3 different things for just one item. I live in a flat, I have a tiny kitchen and cannot have 5 large bins in there for each different type of packaging. They need to make things easier for people, reduce the amount of packaging and tell us clearly what bin to put it in. It's really hard to get it right.

Yes I think your completely right! I do think however that the goverments should be doing more on recycling. There are only so many bins you can have in your yard - and what do you do if you don't have a yard! Don't know why the buck completely stops at us. For instance if the goverment laid down laws that only reasonable packaging should be allowed. My kids at christmas we spent halft the day untying wires and cardboard! What are companies doing to combat the recyling problems!

lots euro countries give about 10p for every can, plastic bottle that is recycled. It's the lack of incentives in the UK that make it easy for lazy to do nothing.

We get our door to door milk delivered in plastic bottles, the supplier say glass is more costly, but it should be most enviromental method that should take priority.

People justify all sorts of behaviour with daft statements like this: littering, not voting, benefit fraud and so forth, whereas in fact they are just lazy or sociopathic.
