You know in ancient times they believed that studying decreases a womens ability to reproduce. They actually thought that studying shrinks their wombs and they wont be able to bear babies. So it may have its roots in that ancient stupidity!

I do most of the cooking and grocery shopping. I also usually clean the bathroom. My wife does the dishes, Laundry and bills. Our daughter gets the living room. My wife mows the yard while I trim the yard, bushes, and repair things, and do most of the up keep on the vehicles. Which if my wife touches anything with a motor it needs repaired. I work 40-48 Hrs a week she works about 30-35 hrs a week. We split it fairly even.

My first answer is because their mothers did!! If they make more money and they pay attention to other duties like the trash, lawn mowing, car maintenance etc. etc. they probably think they are doing their fair share. It's up to you whether you want the laundry and dishes to be his job too, but it might mean something more to him, and you don't want to hurt his ego trying to make him "the modern-day man" because it can backfire on you. Personally, if I am working as much as my husband, I expect him to help me with everything. We also trade jobs. He goes grocery shopping while I cook and wash the dishes, and we make it fair and equitable. It takes a strong male to do dishes and laundry and that goes right back to what I first said: Because their mothers did!!

~Women are usually the ones that cook, so it makes sense that we would do dishes as well. I think we are just better at doing household chores. I also like it done my way, and my way to me, is right!
Men can continue to fix cars and other stuff that needs fixing around the house, and simply planting their "seed" so to speak.. lol~

if u want to fix the plumbing, put shingles on the roof, split the fire wood, mow the lawn, fix the car, and carry out the trash, i guess we can switch roles. that is of course assuming that u make more or as much money as u'r man does

It depends on the type of guy that you get. Many guys are pigs, but others are sweet and caring.
