A number of experts have claimed that the present change in our weather patterns is being caused by a natural phenomena, rather than a man-made one. Here's a quote from the website below; the whole article makes interesting reading and is certainly worth taking the time to do so: 'Swiss and German scientists found an alternative explanation for global warming in 2004, with a study that suggests an increase in the sun’s radiation isn’t only affecting earth’s climate, but also that of our neighbouring planets. NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) Extended Mission has documented significant shrinking in the Martian ice caps at a rate of approximately 10 feet per year.' By the way, by quoting this website I'm not saying that I personally don't believe that we aren't contributing to the present problems here on earth. I do think, however, that we should keep our minds open to other considerations too; it would be naive not to to do so.

Nothing about the Earth's climate is obvious. Just as it is not obvious to most scientists that rather than warming up, this country will soon plunge into a mini ice age when the Gulf Stream (The Conveyor) switches off within the next 50 years.

It's not obvious at all. The earth has been heating up for about 10,000 years now, since the last ice age. Humans were certainly not responsible for at least the first 5,000 years of that.

So there are plenty of reasons why the earth might be heating up. The biggest influence on climate is carbon dioxide and the biggest influence on carbon dioxide is coral reefs. So it's not immediately obvious that humans are causing the change in temperature.

Put a bunch of scientists in a lab and give them a thermometer. Raise and lower the temperature of the room and let them take measurements. Allow them to confer with each other over the data and spend weeks writing a report. The result? They will conclude that if you shake the themometer so that the mercury rises, the room will heat up. They will then recommend spending millions of dollars to protect the thermometer from being shaken to avoid excessive warming of the room.

They , the US will not believe until it is way to late. Better to keep those oil profits rolling it.

Yes the climate does warm up and cool down naturally. But never at the speed it is now, which just by chance matches ours excessive emmissions.

Well this is not an answer as such, but I once heard that scientists spent $4 million dollars to find out why cornflakes went soggy.

there are still many people around who believe that it is natural - they point to the 'little ice age' of the 16th century, when they held great 'ice fairs' on the frozen thames.
they point the warm period of the 13th century, when greenland really was green.

I belive that global warming is man-made, but it's not all simply cut-and-dried as you seem to believe

No it isn't obvious. Planet Earth has experienced many changes of climate over the millions of years it has existed, none of which were influenced by humanity (as humanity didn't exist). I am still sceptical that current global warming IS the result of humanity and not part of this natural ebb and flow of climate.

Hey 20 years ago Gore and his troop were telling us there was a great ice age coming, and we needed to turn our thermostats up and leave our doors open to save the planet. In the eruption of Mt. St. Helens there was 23 cubic miles of matter thrown into the atmosphere. When the Almighty made this earth it was very good. At that time there was much more carbon dioxide in the air.--- The coal and oil seem to be organic remains from early life forms. Politicians cannot understand subtlety, and so truth often gets oversimplified, and thus it gets changed into error.
