I just moved to the UAE. It seems safe, but is it really?

It is safe in that you don't really have to fear terrorist attacks or anything like that. That way the UAE is one of the safest places in the region.

But I've been told that women (those who plan to live here for a while, not tourists) do need to be a little careful to not dress too provocatively. Apparently there have been cases of molestation though they don't receive much publicity as the press is not free as such.

If you're alone here, then you don't have much to worry abt.....just regular safety issues. Other stuff.... don't mess with the locals. Its their country, you're just a visitor no matter how long you stay. Don't drink and drive, you'll lose your license straight away if you're caught with even a fraction of alcohol in your blood stream. Other driving violations could cost you dearly, coz the govt's increasing fines to curb the no. of accidents, esp. in Dubai...so drive safe.

Other than that, life here is pretty good. So enjoy!

I think it is and I would go live in any middle eastern country. Even so of the hot-bed areas. The first thing I would do it make friends with the common people of that specific country because they can keep you well informed and also they will love you so much that they will also protect you.

Israel is by far the safest country in the Middle East, regardless of your religion or ethnicity. All people receive equal protection under the law.

Well the middle east is not a haven for stability, but you are in a fairly western friendly country. But like traveling anywhere, be cautious and respect their culture and laws.
