I seen some really strange people who made a fool out of themselves. Personally this is the only reason I watch as I cannot believe my eyes that their is so many people from the freak show.
Then again I look at my family and wow...that scares me

OK, here's the big secret. At least as it was released on a local radio station. Thousands of people go to the preliminary American Idol auditions. There are many tables of judges, and they filter through the thousands to get a few hundred. It's these survivors you might say that actually make it to Simon, Paula, and Randy.
Now at this point you have to ask, how do the really horrible singers get through? Especially the lunatics? Simple, even though you might feel bad for them when they get their hopes dashed, you still watch don't ya. A lot of people love these first episodes better than the main competition for the fact they have all the loons on. The preliminary judges let certain people through because they think it will make an amusing segment, along with people they think actually have potential.
Now the worst part is, unless the contestant is purposefully being goofy, most are lead to believe they really have a shot when they are just laugh fodder.
At least that's the way I understand it.
Don't feel bad about it, the show has been on for a while now, and the people should realize what could happen. Chances that you will be told how bad you stink by Simon are a lot greater than getting on the main show.

i actually kind of agree but i disagree as well. jordin i think is actually improving and by winning american idol she'll have the chance to show off how great she can be. i think she's already there, she's just not showing it off in her songs. she actually released an independent album somewhere when she was around 13 or 14. she also won america's most talented kids. and since she's so young, she has the potential to be even better, i mean come on, she's 17! blake actually doesn't have much of a voice but he's kind of like other stars. they don't have the best voices but they have a lot of originality. by being favored by more of the younger kids, he'll probably be very successful. but yes, american idol is kind of lacking great talent this year... it's kind of wierd because they all had some kind of expierience with singing and there's not much talent while other years winners didn't have any expierience yet they were amazing!

GOOD QUESTION! I think that some people look for ways to be on TV. Others may really believe they have the talent. And I have to admit that sometimes when I'm watching, I say " Are you serious? ". But it's good that they have confidence and believe in themselves. They have to be pretty bold to go up there, on national television. I give em 1 cool point for being so bold.

Some people just want to shine out to TV being freaks like that 'She Bangs, She Bangs' wanna-be chinese dude. Some people who really are freaks probally are just being confident. But thats the great thing about American Idol. Watching tuneless freaks.

yes some people delude or fool themselves just go to the R&S venue and see what I see it comes in many forms And most every one has it to some degree at some time whether as a child or regrettably as an adult.

i think their mum's are blind and told them they are good from the age of 5 - they then believe all their lives they are good though the general public laugh at them.
constructive criticism is a good thing and being crap at something is a part of life. everyone cant be good at everything, that would be stupid.
